Beverley Appointed New DVSA Chief Executive

Beverley Warmington has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). She will take up the role on 5 January 2026, succeeding Loveday Ryder, who has led the agency since January 2021.

Warmington brings nearly 20 years of experience in public service, with a strong background in leading large operational organisations. Prior to her appointment at DVSA, she served as an Area Director at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), with responsibility for services across London, Essex and Eastern England. In that role, she oversaw operations involving more than 12,000 staff across multiple locations.

As Chief Executive of the DVSA, Warmington will be responsible for overseeing driver testing, vehicle standards, enforcement activity and wider road safety functions. A key focus of her role will be addressing the ongoing driving test backlog and reducing waiting times for learner drivers. This includes continuing work on the government’s existing measures to improve test availability and the efficiency of the booking system.

Her appointment comes at a critical time for the agency, as it continues to balance service demand, operational resilience and road safety responsibilities across Great Britain.
