It does require a second & third look to make sure you read it right!
But, as Kev’75 says, the number plate must be vertical & not excessively reclined as on a flat bonnet, etc.
Viewing the plate from the front or rear, the plate must be perpendicular to the ground surface. Like a wall.
The wording in the manual could be a little clearer… 😕
