You cannot have it both ways, you tell us that we cannot apply little or no effort if the system meets the overall efficiency due to your preception that little or no effort and rfr 8 & 9 are connected. Then you tell me that my example is a fail for little or no effort.:?

I still put it to you that it is you that is misunderstanding the manual and your reply then starts talking about all sorts which we are not talking about to cloud the issue.

Please take it on board that the rfr for little or no effort is, not in anyway connected to efficiency calculations. The application of the brake to max, asks us to check for little or no effort and as stated the max effort recorded is then used to calculate overall efficiency. If the overall effieciency is less than that required it then fails for being below. rfr 8 & 9 is about % efficiency and not efforts, efforts are purely used to calculate % efficiency.

The cross reference is just there to link the efforts recorded with the overall efficiency calculations and the rfr if below.

Hi rfr,

your example in the rear service brakes has no room for an element of doubt, they just don’t work, therefore a clear fail. Castrob has recieved the definitive guide from VOSA, which clearly agrees with what I have been saying. However you wish to interpret the manual is up to you, however, if you wish, you could ask VOSA Technical yourself, they will probably agree with Castrob and myself, ask and find out.
