Not at all how can a once a year check to minimum standards compare with a taxi test? Our local test standard is on a parr with new, no amount of wear or free play is allowed in anything what so ever. Only the very smallest of sratches are allowed on the bodywork, no discolouration of paintwork and certainly no different coloured bits at all. Even door hinges are checked and can fail if there is any notceable drop in the door when opened.

I was quite confident that a senior trainer at VOSA said the standards where the same except for some items, like paint and interior etc, maybe should ask them see what they say.
With regards minimum test standards, that i don’t see to be a problem because I have taxis tested by me each year, then they go for a taxi test and nobody has every complained and I do these same vehicles every six months, so with respect if I pass and advise say slight play in ball joints etc, then the taxi people must be doing the same no?
