Don’t most front suspension legs now have two through bolts which can be removed to release the wheel hub assembly, and if the sliding caliper “Most are” is unbolted and hung out the way, the constant velocity joint gaitor can then be replaced without touching the bottom ball joint, at least that is how we do them.

If the vehicle leaves test station a tester may then wish to conduct a brake test because he wound not know the method of repair, ie brake pipe removal, but in your own workshop with your own staff, each person should know the others methods of working.

If the braking system has not been touched, then clearly there can be no difference to the brake performance test when retested, unless the disc is contaminated, then a fail anyway. I think VOSA are probably just covering themselves because they cannot foresee every different repair technique garages have, your own experience must prevail at the end of the day?
