Have any of you guys heard about the landRover which passed it’s MOT test last February, then killed four children?

How did it get it’s mot test, the report says that the father of the children got his neighbour to mot test it for him.

The pictures of the condition of the vehicle are appalling, some of the listed defects where;

Drivers seat not secured in place.

Rear brakes almost totally ineffective, the picture shows the linings practically metal to metal and saturated with brake fluid.

Brake pedal had to be pushed to the floor before the brakes began to operate.

Different size brake calipers across the front axle

Trailing link arms incorrectly fitted and corroded away

Defective steering due to a modified roll cage

Suspension geometry altered to make it top heavy

wrong tyres fitted giving wrong readings

The father being a mechanic by trade said there was nothing wrong with his land Rover and the modifications, it was a van drivers fault for killing his children.

I ask, now the mot test is the minimum standard to be applied, and some of the above is nothing to do with the mot test, but four children have lost their lives because of some incompetent mot tester who must have broke the rules to some degree, why my experience has never seen anybody fix a vehicle proper for mot test then turn it to a pile of scrap thereafter.

A crying shame for the kids and their mother.
