Despite the fact that having an adjustable brake bios adjuster is an IVA fail, there appears to be no advice for the MOT test. In fact I’ve known some MOT testers to fail a road car because it has a front/rear brake balance adjuster and others say that it is not a problem.

My interpretation of the current regulations is that it is not an MOT fail, even if it can be operated from the driving position, but if in the opinion of the MOT tester, it could cause a danger, the MOT tester should add an ‘Advisory Notice’ to the certificate.

Clearly a brake bios adjuster used carefully by an experience driver is an aid to road safety. However, one used poorly by an inexperienced driver could be dangerous. Can someone help me with their interpretation?
