An interesting puzzle I can’t find the answer to:
I thought I understood that an MOT expiring after March would automatically be extended by 6 months. That has indeed happened to one of our cars.Yet our daughter spoke ysterday to her garage about booking an MOT and the tester said that although there was no need, because she has automatically now got the 6-month extension, when that extension expires her first MOT after that will not last for 12 months but only 6.
That sounds crazy to me, and I can find nothing to confirm it. Yet the tester remained firm that that is what he has been told. His advice was that there was no point in defering the test date by 6 months because the system would catch up and she will need the next MOT in 12 months time regardless.
Any comments from the experts?
