I’ve got play in the steering rack of my 08 C4. It passed it’s MOT with an advisory for the play.

The mechanic I use took it to a different inspector, so I didn’t the inspectors opinion, but it’s was listed as ‘monitor and repair if necessary’, but not ‘repair as soon as possible’.

What’s confused me, is it was labelled with ‘(i))’, which I thought meant ‘major’, and would be classed as repair as soon as possible or a fail. I’ve quoted how it was displayed below, so any clarity about whether this is something just to monitor at this stage would be great.

“Steering rack has slight free play detected at steering wheel Both inner drum sticks (2.3 (a) (i))”
