Hello all.. Was wondering if anyone had been similar?
Brought a car last Friday off a Private seller, the guy I was buying off said he would put it though a MOT which he did on the Wendsday before and the only advisory note was a Headlamp lens slightly defective.
I picked the car up on Friday and drove home with no issues. The next day I got in and drove and noticed the brake peddle was really spongy. I drove the car home safely and open the engine bay to find the brake fluid level was really low so I topped up. The next day on the Sunday I came out and noticed a pool of substance on the floor by the rear passenger wheel. I took the Wheel off only to find a leak coming from the brake line. I booked the car in to kwik fit for a free brake test on which the guy told me the brake line did indeed had a leak and quoted me £350 has they only replace the whole line but told me a independent gauges would be able to replace the bad part only. So I took the car to a local independent gauge and said that they could do it.. I told him I only just brought the car with a new MOT on Friday.. He told me there was no way the car should of passed the MOT has the line has corrosion and that I should take it back to where the MOT was done and they should fix the problem free of charge. If they don’t carry out the repair to start a claim with vosa
I’m taking it back on Monday to the MOT place
So my question is. Is this correct the MOT guy is responsible for the repair and should carry out free of charge.?
