Hi folks,
Newbie here!
I have a 32 year old Rover 216 that has an ABS fault. The light came on a week or so after the last MOT test. I can fairly easily turn off the light by unplugging the ABS ecu but this will mean no illumination with the ignition on. It is not possible to repair the system unfortunately as it has the Honda ALB system where parts are not available. I understand that it is a standard part of the test that the ABS light should come on with the ignition and then go off again, however I’ve also heard that vehicles of this age are not subject to this rule.
Before I start the lengthy process of stripping out the ABS system and making up new brake lines (not something I’ve ever done previously)I wanted to ensure that I’m doing the right thing. It’s has 4 brake discs and stops very well with it being a light vehicle. Not many were fitted with ABS or 4 discs.
Thanks
Gary
