Sorry to revive this thread first time using this. Is this still current practice. My fuel tank strap has corroded at the fitment area on the chassis. I had noticed this and place a decent ratchet strap in its place. The tank itself was solid before the ratchet strap was fitted. Subsequently still solid with the strap. Would this be adequate as in the MOT manual it doesn’t state how it should be secured (OEM or not) just says that it should be secure and not be able to leak or catch fire which in turn this practice technically satisfies.
