Car failed on windscreen washers not working. I put a new pump in but still no joy so it looks like general control module may be faulty.

Retest is next week. I could rig up a switch to control the washers I would mount it in the console.

    Would that satisfy MOT?

    Welcome to the forums Tim091

For me it would, you may want to clearly label the switch ‘washers’ so it dont fail again next year.

No reason why not Tim, as long as it’s within the drivers reach.

I can go back to a time when manual plunger pumps were fitted in the dash 😯

Thanks. I too remember those squishy buttons you had to pump!

I am grateful. I also recall those squishy buttons that required pumping.

Rigging a manual switch on the console to operate the windscreen washers could pass the MOT if it effectively delivers fluid to the windscreen and is securely installed within the driver’s reach. However, success depends on the tester’s judgment, as a poorly executed or unsafe setup might still be failed.
