Going back to what Rob was saying about repairs, he reminded me of a Ford Focus I failed for a seized brake control valve lever before VOSA brought into the test the actual function of the valve itself.
I advised that the brake pipes had both corrosion and grease on them, thus the inspection was not perfect (Visual Learning David;)) however when the customer brought the car back for a retest one of the brake pipes burst during the roller brake test.
This is the point;
A tester who works at our other MOT Site (Liverpool) said to me that I should have passed and advised the brake pipe burst because it was during the retest that it burst:shock:
I advised as nicely as I could that if during a retest the NT notices a defect that in his opinion should prevent the issue of a VT20, the vehicle MUST be issued with a VT30 for the additional mot fail item(s). He did not reply to that.
